the waltz for the mass liberation of the floating yellow ducks

back to music page

the infamous song about the rubber ducks... i wrote it one night in bed. i had read about them washing up on the west coast of ireland in the newspaper and i couldn't sleep that night for thoughts of them bobbing about on the ocean - i had to turn the light back on and write this song to stop them haunting me!!!
it's a true story... it's not really a waltz, though - it's more of a bob!

----
it's been a long journey from the pacific
and we know we're looking a bit pale
but we're here to confirm the rumours
that there is a better way

we've been confined to the waters of the bathtubs
with some snotty nosed kid playing god
when all we really want to do
is take to the waves and bob

well, we left our confines in big plastic bags
and bobbed until we broke free
we bobbled all the way to the western world
and still bobble in liberal glee

so this is a song for all of you ducks
who've been couped up for far too long
to come bobbing for freedom or just for fun
so come bob and sing along

we're bobbling bobbling small yellow ducks
we're bobbling can't you see
we're bobbling bobbling just for fun
we're bobbling bobbling free
